It was released as part of the Swiss Alps Event and the German Theme. It was re-released on June 14th, 2011, as part of the FarmVille Birthday Classics event. It was available for 1 day as part of the Swiss theme, on the first day.

The Simmental Cow can be stored in the Cow Pasture. The Cow Pasture can be harvested every 1 day. When harvesting a Cow Pasture containing at least one Simmental Cow, in addition to currency, it is possible to find two (2) Simmental Calf or Animal Feed. The Animal Feed is sent to the player's gift box. If a Simmental Calf is found, it is immediately available for placement. If it is not immediately placed, it is sent to the players gift box for later placement. The other Simmental Calf or Animal Feed can be shared to the player's wall.

The Simmental Cow can be stored in the Dairy Farm. The Dairy Farm can be harvested every 1 day. When harvesting a Dairy Farm containing at least one Simmental Cow, in addition to currency, it is possible to find one (1) Simmental Calf. If a Simmental Calf is found, it is immediately available for sharing to a player's wall for the player's friends to collect.
Player was tending their cows when an adorable Baby Simmental Calf caught their eye! This Baby Simmental Calf is already eager to explore the world on their own and is looking for a new home.
- Dairy Farms were discontinued from the market, and new Dairy Farms could not be purchased. However, existing Dairy Farms were not removed from players' farms.
Bulls do not require the presence of any other cows in the Dairy Farm in order to produce a calf. However, cows require the presence of at least 1 bull to produce a calf.
Originally, only 1 (one) bull could be placed inside each Dairy Farm.

Trivia: The Simmental had historically been used for dairy, beef and as draught animals. They are particularly renowned for the rapid growth of their young, if given sufficient feed. Simmental provide more combined weaning gain (growth) and milk yield than any other breed. Simmental are a versatile breed of cattle originating in the valleys of the Simme river, in the Bernese Oberland of western Switzerland. It was based off the real world Simmental.
