The Fan Cow was released on April 20, 2010 for Template:Cash after the FarmVille Cows page on Facebook reached 2 million fans. The price was later reduced to Template:Coins when the number of fans hit 3 million. It was available until April 30, 2010. For each one purchased, the buyer was given the option of letting their friends get one for free from the news feed.
Voting
Secret Cow and Secret Sheep in the market
Zynga started the promotion on April 7, 2009. In the market, the silhouette of the Secret Cow and Secret Sheep appeared. Players were asked to become a fan of either the FarmVille Cows page or FarmVille Sheep page. The page that reached 2 million fans first would have their animal released in the market. However, despite reaching 2 million fans long after the cow did, the Fan Sheep was also released on July 14, 2009 for Template:Coins.
Fan Cow Price
The price-fan relation was posted on both Facebook pages as follows:
- 2 Million fans: New animal for 12 Farm Cash
- 3 Million fans: New animal for 50,000 Coin
- 6 Million fans: New animal for 10,000 Coin
- 11 Million fans: New animal for 5,000 Coin and every fan gets one free

Glitches
On the 18th February 2011 it was noticed that taking a Fan Cow out of the Dairy Barn and placing it on your farm allows you to share another with your neighbours through the news feed. The Fan Cow can be placed back inside the Dairy Barn and the process repeated as many times as desired. It is unknown whether this is actually a glitch or an intentional change by Zynga.
