Farm Coins are the basic currency in FarmVille. Coins can be earned by harvesting crops, trees and animals, as well as being a reward for earning ribbons. Farmers may also use real-life money to buy extra coins. Coins can be used to buy items at the market, including seeds, trees, animals, decorations, buildings, farm expansions and more. Coins are not required to send gifts to neighbors.
Some of the fastest ways of earning coins (In terms of coins per square per day) are:
- A Chicken Coop filled with 20 Golden Chickens produces 85.33 coins per square per day
- Any color of calf produces 80 coins per square per day
- Acai Trees produce 79 coins per square per day
- Ornament Trees I and II, along with the Maple Tree, produce produces 75 coins per square per day
- Super Berries, which are no longer available, produced 56.25 coins per square per day
- The Grey Goose produces 50 coins per square per day
After these, no items produce more than 40 coins per square per day. The most profitable available crops are Peas, producing 11.48 coins per square per day. Overall, the most profitable items currently available for coins in the market are the Lime Tree and Pig, each producing 15 coins per square per day.
Coins are different from farm cash. Farm cash can be used to buy different things, although there is sometimes an option of spending either coins or cash. Because the primary source of farm cash income is by spending real-life money, it is often extra items that are only available with farm cash, as these are reserved for farmers who will pay real-life money.
